Willa has owned and trained horses for more than thirty years. She first taught her own children how to ride. Now she focuses on teaching both children and adults how to achieve balanced seat riding which can be used in any riding style--Western or English.

| Round Pen I | Listening and Speaking Horse: Certain body postures produce responses in horses that clearly demonstrate fear or trust. Assessing these responses can fine-tune the innate ability all humans have to trust their instincts. With positive reinforcement the horse will bond to the human and a true working relationship begins. Round pen work, done in a very small arena, demonstrates how a horse's body will carry a rider as it moves through all the gaits. It is an ideal environment to also demonstrate fear and trust, the hunted and the hunter. The end result produces a bond between rider and horse. |

| Arena Riding | Balanced Seat Riding: The student rides while the trainer controls the horse on a longe line. This is a classical technique that builds confidence and communication between horse and rider. Emphasis is on centering the body's balance while performing certain riding exercises to build trust: eyes closed, hands free, without stirrups and other exercises. Gaits used are walk and trot. The canter will also be introduced at this level. |
| Games | Students will be introduced to gymkhana riding games. These riding games will be performed in the large arena where each student will learn to control their horse while riding through obstacles. The obstacles can include: riding over ground poles in various formations, passing items to other riders and riding patterns around cones and poles. |
